A tracker built around how I actually train
Field Log tracks food, workouts, body measurements, and supplements in one place. It reads from Apple Health — body weight, body fat, calories burned, workout sessions — so data from a connected smart scale or Apple Watch shows up automatically without manual entry.
Everything stays on your device. No account, no server, no subscription. Export your data anytime as JSON or Markdown through the iOS Share Sheet.
Nutrition logging
Food search via USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts, barcode scanning, and macro targets.
Workout tracking
Log exercises, sets, reps, weight, and duration. Reads workout sessions from Apple Health.
Body measurements
Track weight, body fat, and key measurements over time. Auto-fills from Apple Health if you use a smart scale.
Supplement tracking
Log which supplements you've taken and when.
Data export
Export your full history as JSON or Markdown. Your data, your format.
A real example of AI-augmented delivery
Field Log was built using Claude Code as the primary development assistant — the same approach IdeaRoost uses on client projects. I had no prior SwiftUI or iOS development experience before starting. The app is a direct test of the premise that experienced engineering judgment, combined with AI tooling, can move into unfamiliar territory faster than either alone.
The patterns that showed up here — rapid initial builds, gaps in production readiness that required deliberate review, architectural decisions that AI doesn't make on its own — are the same ones I write about in the context of team delivery. Building it myself kept those observations honest.
